Louis S. Ruvolo, MD, FACS
Dr. Ruvolo is the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at
Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County. He
received his BS degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1962, and his MD degree from
Indiana University in 1966, graduating in the top 10% of his class and was named to the
Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Ruvolo completed his surgical residency at Albany
Medical College and has been practicing in Burlington County since 1973. He has been
certified by the American Board of Surgery since 1974, and is a Fellow of the
American College of Surgeons, and a member of numerous medical societies, including the
Oncology Society of New Jersey and the Eastern Vascular Society. He holds an Assistant
Clinical Professorship in Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine. His special
interests in surgery include general surgery, carotid artery and peripheral vascular
surgery, and the treatment of cancer. Dr. Ruvolo was one of the first surgeons in southern
New Jersey to specialize in the treatment of peripheral vascular diseases and founded the
first nonivasive diagnostic vascular disease laboratory in southern New Jersey.
Arnold M Baskies, MD, FACS
Dr. Baskies was born in Chelsea, MA, and received his BA degree with distinction,
graduating summa cum laude with distinction in Biology from Boston University College of
Liberal Arts in 1971, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He completed his MD degree
at Boston University School of Medicine in 1975, and completed his surgical residency at
Boston University Medical Center in 1982. He also had a Fellowship in Surgical
Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, a branch of the National Institutes of Health,
and Clinical Fellowships from the American Cancer Society. He has practiced at
Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County since 1982. He received his board certification from the American Board of
Surgery in 1983 and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member
of numerous medical societies, including the Society of Surgical Oncology, the
American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the
Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, and the Eastern Vascular Society. He has an
abiding interest in all facets of general and vascular surgery and breast cancer, and is
the 1998 recipient of the Silver Chalice Award from the American Cancer Society.
William J Holaday, MD, FACS
Dr. William Holaday moved to southern New Jersey after completing his undergraduate
education at Princeton University with a bachelors degree in chemistry in 1975,
graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. A native Ohioan, he then attended Case
Western Reserve School of Medicine, receiving his MD degree in 1979. He completed his
surgical residency at University Hospital in Syracuse, NY, under Dr. David Frohm, and
moved to Burlington county in 1984. He is active in medical staff affairs and served as
chairman of the operating room committee. He is a Fellow of the American College of
Surgeons, and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the
Burlington County Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the Vascular Society
of New Jersey, and the Oncology Society of New Jersey. In addition to extensive
experience in general and peripheral vascular surgical problems, Dr. Holaday is the Chief
of Thoracic Surgery, and has special interests in laparoscopic and hiatal hernia,
esophageal, and thoracoscopic lung surgery.
Samuel H. Wasser, MD, FACS
Dr. Samuel Wasser is a native of New Jersey, and has practiced in Burlington county for
10 years. He received his Bachelors degree at George Washington University in 1979
and his MD degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC,
in 1983. His postgraduate surgical residencies were at Thomas Jefferson Medical College
Hospital and Morristown Memorial Hospital. Dr. Wasser is the Chief of the section of
vascular surgery at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County and the director of the peripheral vascular
noninvasive diagnostic laboratory. He has served on the hospitals Executive
Committee for many years. He is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners,
and in addition to being board certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1989. his
numerous medical society memberships include the American Medical Society, the New Jersey
Medical Society, the Vascular Society of New Jersey and the Eastern Vascular
Society. Building on an extensive experience in general surgery, Dr. Wasser has developed
a large personal series of microvascular peripheral arterial reconstruction procedures,
specializing in arterial vascular & varicose vein surgery and
serves as the Director of the Wound Care Center.
Richard D. Ing, MD
Dr. Richard Ing is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He received his bachelor's degree from
the University of Pennsylvania, graduating cum laude. He received his M.D. degree from the
University of Cincinnati School of Medicine, and completed his residency at Wayne State
University in general surgery. He was the recipient of the Wulsin Fellowship for Surgical
Research at the University of Cincinnati and served on the Resident Recruitment Committee
and the Surgery Residency Committee at Wayne State. He is a Diplomate of the American
Board of Surgery and is board certified in general surgery and is an Associate Fellow of
the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ing is a member of the Society of American
Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, and
the American Medical Association. He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and is
an instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support. Dr. Ing is also one of the few surgeons in
the United States who has completed a separate fellowship in laparoscopic (minimal access)
surgery, having studied under the pioneer in laparoscopic colon surgery, Dr. Moises Jacobs
in Miami. Dr. Ing's special interests include laparoscopic colon surgery, laparoscopic
hiatal hernia surgery, laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery, and laparoscopic biliary
tract surgery. His most recent publication written in conjunction with Dr. Jacobs will
appear soon as a chapter in an upcoming book and is entitled, "Laparoscopic Colectomy
for Colon Carcinoma."
David Greenbaum, MD, FACS
Dr. David Greenbaum has been practicing in general surgery at the
Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County for
over 15 years. While performing most general surgical procedures, he has distinguished
himself as one of the busiest and most knowledgeable bariatric surgeons in the entire
Philadelphia / South Jersey area. With the assistance of his associates, he performs as
many as 15-20 weight loss operations monthly and runs the Rancocas bariatric support group
bimonthly. He was graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in 1976, the University of
Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1980 and performed his internship and residency in
general surgery at the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. from 1980-1985. He is
presently a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society for Bariatric
Surgeons and a member of the
American Society of Cosmetic Surgeons.
Kenneth M. Blanc, MD, FACS
Kenneth M. Blanc, M.D. was born in Philadelphia. Growing up, he
lived in Burlington County. Following graduation from high school,
he was offeered a full scholarship to the Julliard School of Music.
However, he decided to persue his interest in science at Villanova
University in the pre-medical curriculum where he earned a B.S. degree.
This was later followed by his matriculation into Jefferson Medical
College, where he achieved his Medical Doctor degree. After a one
year internship at the Jefferson Medical Hospital, he completed a four
year residency in general surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center--one
year of which was spent at Memorial Center for Cancer and Allied
Disease/Sloan-Kettering in New York City.
Following completion of his training, he served two years at the 2nd
General Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. Then he served in the
military in 1966 and thereafter joined the staff of the Rancocas Valley
and Riverside Divisions of Zurbrugg Memorial Hospital and Memorial
Hospital of Burlington County.
Activities at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County include past President of the Medical
Staff, past chairman of the Executive Committee, and membership on many
other committees.
Community activities include membership on the American Cancer Society
of Burlington County, serving as Chariman of the Executive Committee,
and President of the Board of Directiors. During this time, he was
one of the originators of the annual Burlington County American Cancer
Society Golf Tournament that raissed money to support the work of the
American Cancer Society.
Professional Society Memberships include certification by and membership
in the American College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons,
American Medical Association, New Jersey and Burlington County Medical
Societies, and the Society of the Surgeons of New Jersey.
